10 months!

Just some pictures to celebrate 10 months!

Yay for being able to finally sit!!

Hanging out on a humid rainy day

I am so happy because I just spit up and now feel better!

Picture just prior to spit up…check out those curls!

Banana are soooooo great! (but I really like pears the best!)

First pair of sunglasses

I have started to keep notes in a notebook I carry around with me so I can write down everything that Ben does and can Josh when I talk to him. It dawned on me today, it’s a fairly useful list that I can use to update the blog as well. So…here we go:

In the past two weeks Ben has done the following:
1. Incessantly jump on anything and everything he can
2. Eat baby food twice a day (in his high chair!)
3. Begun to LOVE the bath
4. Sits up for extended periods of time
5. Poops daily
6. Mastered rolling over!!
7. Stays up in crawling position for almost 5 seconds
8. Went to the beach for the first time

Jumping is the greatest thing in the world to Ben (second only to being tossed in the air). He just loves jumping. He jumps on the lap of whomever happens to be holding him and can go on for a LONG time. He cries when you stop supporting the jump so you get sucked back into helping him. We have a jumper that goes in a doorway but our doorway options are limited so he doesn’t use it that often. We have a friend who lets Ben use her Jumperoo that is free standing and Ben jumps in it for as long as we let him. Easily over an hour and he always works up a sweat. I have promised him once we have our own space again, I will get him his own free standing Jumperoo and he can just all day, every day.

Ben is now officially eating solid food. Loves his oatmeal. I try and mix it with whatever we happen to be trying out that day. This week it was carrots and then bananas! Whoo hoo for bananas…he loves them. He has started acting like a little bird and opening his mouth for the next spoonful. He also like to play little games like bopping his head from side to side while eating and then laughing hysterically when I do it to. He is such a good natured little boy..so fun to be around. (with this new food regiment also comes more pooping regularity. He now poops every day!)

Being in the bathtub is another favorite activity. When I arrived in DC and realized I hadn’t brought Ben’s baby tub, we improvised and just put Ben in the regular tub without a lot of water. I wish I had thought to do it earlier because he just can’t get enough of splashing in the tub! He stays in until I think he is turning blue and I have to rescue him. He gets baths almost daily now because it puts him in such a great mood.

Ben can now sit up for over a minute straight! He gets better and better daily but he will play with his blocks (or his feet) for as long as it keeps his attention. He generally only falls over when something else gets his attention and he jerks his head up. He still tends to sit with a pillow behind him but soon I think he will be all on his own.

Ben’s other big milestone is that he can roll from his belly to his back with ease. No longer do we have to cheer him on to get an arm out of the way to roll. Instead, he knows to push up on both of his arms and throw his weight. He also practices this game when I am carrying him or he is lying on my lap. You have to be quick when you hold him.

Ben is on his way to crawling. I have yet to get a picture because he moves out of position too fast, but he stays in the crawling position for about 5 seconds and looks quite proud of himself. Now he just needs some coordination and he will be off.

Ben also went to the beach for the first time last week when we had an unusually warm day. He thought it was great. He played in the sand yet never tried to eat it. I think he is in for a fun summer.

Overall, Ben is happy and has a ton of energy. I fear for when he walks that I won’t be able to keep up! He has had a blast meeting all of our Boston friends and has many new admirers. There are a lot more people that he interacts with on a daily basis here who love him, want to hold him, play with him, entertain him. He isn’t afraid of strangers and easily goes to whomever happens to be holding his next bottle. He loves any male that will hold him and immediately feels their beards…he gravitates towards touching faces as often as he can. He is growing steadily, almost 14lbs now. He is a good baby and I try and remember daily how lucky I am to have him.

PS. One extra picture because I just love it
